We condemn the political coup against Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff. The removal from office of Dilma Rousseff is an undemocratic act against the legitimate government elected by 54 million Brazilians, who voted for a political agenda of social justice and inclusion.
We are concerned about the politically motivated impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff, and the installment of the unelected interim government. Evidence shows that the main supporters of impeachment wants to remove President Dilma Rousseff in order to stop the investigations into corruption in which they are involved.
We express our support for the forces in Brazil that struggle to reestablish democracy, combat corruption, and fight for transparency and social justice.
We urge the Danish government as well as other European countries not to recognize the interim government, and we encourages the international community to follow the critical development in Brazil closely.
